During a heavy rainstorm, discovered the roof was leaking badly. It was impossible to find a roofing contractor. My neighbors recommended someone who was non-responsive. These people are the best of the best. I am very critical and picky when it comes to having work done at my home, letting strangers in, etc. This group blew me away. It’s a multi-step process, and the salesperson, the 5–6 crew members who worked on it, the office staff — all were upbeat, smart, friendly, respectful. They made it fun even.
The process from start to finish was excellent. Lindsey (office manager) and Sergio (estimator) respond quickly and efficiently to calls, emails, and texts. Edgar, Carlos, and Jose were very communicative when I had questions during the removal, dry rot repair, and installation of new roof.
This was the second house I have had re-roofed by NuShake and each time they have exceeded my expectations. The office staff is amazing and the workers are so professional. My roof looks amazing, they were clean and communicated well with me every step of the way. Couldn’t be happier.

Yes. A full roof replacement in California needs a building permit from your city or county, and California's Title 24 energy code applies to re-roofs. NuShake pulls the permit as part of your project. Small repairs usually don't need one. We tell you either way at your free estimate.
For most Central Valley homes, an architectural asphalt shingle rated for high heat is the best value. Valley summers age shingles faster than almost anything else. Tile and metal cost more up front, but they handle the heat better and last longer. What Valley weather does to a roof.
Summer
Valley summers are the main event. Across the Central Valley, homes see weeks above 95°F, and attic temperatures can pass 140°F. That heat cooks asphalt shingles from both sides. They curl, crack, and shed granules years early. Good attic ventilation and the right shingle line matter more here than in milder climates.
Winter
Winter brings the opposite problem. Tule fog keeps roofs damp for days at a time, and atmospheric-river storms drop most of the year's rain in a few weeks. Flashing gaps that stay dry all summer turn into ceiling stains by January. That's why we check flashing, valleys, and roof penetrations on every inspection.
